I can not say enough about the Maryland LAST Team; I had never heard of them before our Company experienced an event that changes things forever.  As a new Fire Chief I had things that needed to be done that I had no experience in before; the LAST team worked with me anytime either in person, by phone , or email to coordinate and submit any paperwork that had to be submitted in a timely manner.  They would come meet with us to discuss the status of everything and took a tremendous weight off of our shoulders knowing that someone with the knowledge and expertise in this matter was seeing things through for our members family and the department as well.  At each event that our member was recognized there would always be someone there from the Team to guide the family and department members through each step; I know that it was they're mission to assist the family and department through this tragic event but it truly felt that the Team took it to heart and made it so.  Had it not been for the Team I'm not sure how things would have turned out; I'm thankful for all they have done and continue to do for everyone.  They are a wealth of knowledge and if they can't answer a question they will get an answer for you or direct you to someone who is a subject matter expert; just like any large service they are networked with several agencies and numerous service contacts.
